Interface ThreadSafe

ManagedObject

public interface ThreadSafe
A marker interface that indicates that the implementer, a plug-in-provided service, is thread-safe.

When a plug-in-provided service is accessed from multiple threads, it needs to either synchronize that access itself or the run-time will do it. If the service has no such data or has synchronized shared access, it should implement this interface, so that the run-time can deduce this. If this interface is not implemented and an object may be accessed from multiple threads, the run-time will synchronize all access to the plug-in's service. This can be detrimental to performance, so plug-in authors should take steps to avoid shared state or perform more fine-grained locking. After doing so, they should also implement this interface to disable the run-time's locking.
